Behind the Paintbrush

Welcome to my World

My practice explores the meeting point between the human spirit and the natural world. Raised in rural South East Queensland and now based in the coastal bushland of Agnes Water, I draw ongoing inspiration from Australia’s landscapes and botanical life.

In my recent body of work, particularly Bloom with Grace, I weave portraiture with floral forms through layered, double-exposure techniques. Flowers dissolve into and emerge from the figure, symbolising inner transformation and the unseen life within. These works act as metaphors for growth, resilience, and becoming.

Working primarily in oil, I balance realism with abstraction, building texture and depth to create visual poetry that honours vulnerability, grace, and the quiet power of unfolding.

Madison Storm is an Australian contemporary painter whose work explores the intersection of nature, femininity, and transformation. Raised on the land in rural South East Queensland, her early immersion in forest and bushland continues to shape her visual language and sense of reverence for the natural world.

Madison holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Queensland College of Art and later completed advanced study through the Mastery Program at Milan Art Institute, where she refined her distinctive fusion of realism and abstraction. Working primarily in oil, she combines figurative portraiture with expressive, layered mixed media techniques to create works that feel both grounded and dreamlike.

Now based in the coastal bushland of Agnes Water / 1770, Madison draws daily inspiration from Australia’s unique flora, wildlife, and expansive skies. Her paintings often weave the human form with botanical and symbolic elements, exploring themes of inner becoming, grace, and emotional depth.

Through luminous colour and poetic composition, Madison invites viewers to consider the quiet power of growth — the beauty that emerges when we root deeply, rise gently and allow ourselves to unfold.

Painting is silent poetry, and poetry is painting that speaks.
